Description

Jean-Baptiste Bréval (1753 – 1823) was a French composer and cellist. His Treatise on the Violoncello, Op. 42, was published in 1804.

The Six Duetts for Violin and Viola were published in the early 1780s; the title page indicates the second parts may be played on bass (cello) as well, though those transpositions are not included here.

No 1. The first movement is a sonata form, the second a brief Adagio, and the third is marked "Rondo. Gavotta."
No 2. The first movement is a sonata form, the second a brief Adagio, and the third an Aria with 3 variations.
No 3. The first and third movements are sonata forms, and the second is marked Andante Poco Adagio.
